project: Trafalgar Place

Sustainable solutions are, more and more, sought after to integrate greenery into urban areas. This city garden is surrounded by 3000 houses. The residents, both young and old, as well as disabled, are offered the unique opportunity to provide their own greenery.
For this particular design, standard ShapeBox were chosen in combination with made-to-measure planters and corresponding seats. As robust landscape furniture the CorTen® steel is beautifully at one with the wood.
The fact that elder members of the community don’t need to lean down while gardening, proves to be a major advantage of these raised planter beds.
Although the residents initially preferred wooden planters, the architect advised them to use CorTen® steel. In the long run, this is more durable and hardly requires maintenance.
